This week's Power of the Puck Player of the Week is Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin. After slumping in the beginning of the season, Ovechkin is starting to come alive again. In 4 games this week, "The Great 8" scored 5 goals and 3 assists, giving him 8 points. Ovechkin currently has goals in 5 consecutive, and he's looking to score in a sixth consecutive game, which he hasn't done in 5 years. The Capitals opened the season terribly, staying towards the bottom of the standings for much of the season so far. With Ovechkin starting to turn things around for himself, the Capitals are trending upward in the standings. The Capitals are sitting at tenth place with 31 points - just 2 points out of a playoff spot. If the Capitals have any chance at making the playoffs, Ovechkin is going to have to keep up his stellar play from last week.
