As the trade deadline has gotten closer and closer, rumors have swirled regarding Dallas Stars captain Brenden Morrow. Those rumors can be put to rest, as the Stars have traded Brenden Morrow and a third round draft pick in 2013 to the Pittsburgh Penguins for prospect defenseman Joe Morrow (no relation) and a fifth round pick in 2013.

In Brenden Morrow, the Penguins are getting gritty power forward with tons of experience. Morrow is a physical player, but he can also score, as he put up 33 goals in the 2010-11 season. It's safe to say that Morrow won't score 30-plus goals again in his career, but he is still a threat offensively, especially if he is played on a line with Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin.

He has one year left on his contract, which makes him the perfect rental player for the Penguins. Pittsburgh has the components to win the Stanley Cup this year. The addition of Brenden Morrow gives them some much-needed grit and veteran leadership, which are always welcomed by any team, especially one that is a serious contender to win the Stanley Cup.

If you thought the Penguins are stacked now, imagine if they pick up Jarome Iginla next.

Check out my trade deadline predictions for where I think certain players will go. This is always an exciting part of season, with the trade deadline coming up in just 10 days.
